What business are you in?

We are in the janitorial / cleaning business

How has a good safety record positively impacted your bottom line?

Obviously less medical expense, lower workman’s comp, employees leaving work in the same condition as you arrived, and everybody is being safe.

What future steps are you planning to maintain and improve your safety record?

More staff audits from project leaders/supervisors and front line workers doing self-audits and for co-workers; overall making everybody safety conscious from top to bottom.

How long have you been a member of Great Lakes Safety Training Center?

We joined on May 1, 2006, so about 15 months.

Do you utilize the provided specialized training programs?

Yes, we have sent employees to Great Lakes for Site Safety Rep Training and plan to send more. We will be broadening our work scope to include aerial lift and fall protection training to provide our employees with an increased range of services.

What advantages do you see to being a GLSTC member?

The aspect of safety at the Dow level was new to me when I came to Midland; GLSTC provided the overall knowledge about the importance of safety.

Who do you attribute your safety successes to?

EMS Regional VP and Owner as well as Dow, CBRE and Great Lakes.
